Richmond Times-Dispatch Covers the Campaign

Sep 07, 2010

Good article from the Richmond Times-Dispatch on our campaign against Gerry Connolly.

Mark Rozell, a professor at George Mason University, calls Connolly “one of the most electorally vulnerable incumbents.”

Keith said, "You couldn't have two candidates more diametrically opposed. He's a career politician, a far-left, tax-and-spend liberal. I'm a businessman. I've spent the vast majority of my career starting and building a company that started in a room above a garage."

Connolly “Proud of President Obama’s Agenda”

Aug 30, 2010

Over the weekend, Congressman Gerry Connolly told a gathering of Fairfax Democrats that he was, "proud of have [sic] been part of President Obama’s agenda."

Connolly continued, “[President Obama] needs partners—I want to be one of those partners.”

Gerry Connolly sold out northern Virginia to be a part of President Obama’s nationalized health care boondoggle, his failed stimulus, and trillions in new debt. It’s time for northern Virginia to elect a representative and not another “Yes” man for President Obama and Nancy Pelosi.  Over the weekend, Congressman Gerry Connollytold a gathering of Fairfax Democratsthat he was, "proud of have [sic] been part of President Obama’s agenda."

New Beltway Bandit Blog Post

Aug 03, 2010

Last week’s news of weaker than expected economic growth is another sign that the only thing the $862 billion dollar stimulus has succeeded in doing is driving federal deficits to record levels. Read Keith’s full blog post on Gerry Connolly’s anti-business record on Virginia’s Beltway Bandit.

$1.1 Million in Negative Ads

Jul 30, 2010

News broke this week that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee will dump $1.1 million in negative advertising into northern Virginia to help fund Congressman Gerry Connolly’s faltering campaign. With only three months until Election Day, help Keith fight back against this massive Democratic attack by making an immediate donation to his campaign.

The unprecedented cash Democrats are willing to spend on Congressman Connolly is to be expected. In May, Connolly said he had spilled “buckets of blood” for President Obama and Nancy Pelosi’s big government agenda. It's no surprise that the tax-and-spend liberal Washington insiders would protect one of their own.

Townhall’s Race of the Day

Jul 29, 2010

Popular conservative site Townhall made us the “Race of the Day.” Click here to read why the pundits say Gerry Connolly will lose in November.

"Connolly slipped through the cracks in a favorable political climate last cycle, but now he has a record to stand on, and it’s not pretty. He voted to waste nearly $1 trillion in taxpayer money on the failed stimulus package, heavily tax already struggling families with Cap & Trade legislation, and ram government-run healthcare through Congress. Connolly was further embarrassed after getting busted sending out mailings claiming he did not vote for the Wall Street bailout all the while knowing he did not take office until January 2009 and, in fact, supported TARP during the campaign."

CBO: “budget deficits will cause debt to rise to unsupportable levels”

Jul 28, 2010

In response to yesterday’s Congressional Budget Office analysis, warning of dire consequences if Congress does not get federal deficits under control. Keith said, "Yesterday’s CBO analysis supports what I and many others have been telling Congressman Gerry Connolly and the rest of the big government, big spending career politicians in Congress for nearly two years: the path we are on is simply unsustainable,” Fimian said. “We are borrowing 41 cents on every dollar we spend. These deficits are creating debt that will crowd out investment and innovation, further weakening our economy and leaving the United States vulnerable to fiscal and national security crises.”

According to the CBO report, “federal debt held by the public will stand at 62 percent of GDP at the end of fiscal year 2010, having risen from 36 percent at the end of fiscal year 2007....” The report also pointed out that “In only one other period in U.S. history—during and shortly after World War II—has that figure exceeded 50 percent.”

Young Guns Press Roundup

Jul 01, 2010

Yesterday, the National Republican Congressional Committee elevated Keith's campaign to Young Gun status, top tier in its Young Guns program to elect Republican challenger candidates and take back Congress.  Young Gun designation puts our campaign among elite Republican challengers nationally and this is because we have a winning message and, thanks to your support, the resources and grassroots organization necessary to retire big spending liberal Gerry Connolly in November.  Check out news stories who highlighted the NRCC announcement:

The Washington Post said, "His promotion does send a signal that House GOP leaders consider his campaign viable and his race competitive, and donations from Republican lawmakers and other sympathetic donors may increase as a result."

Red NOVA wrote, "[Fimian] has an excellent opportunity to continue the work that Bob McDonnell started and I know that he will not disappoint conservatives."

Other news sites to higlight Fimian's promotion include the National Journal, Politico, the Washington Examiner, Project Virginia, the Virginia Gentleman, and the News and Advance.

Young Guns

Jun 30, 2010

Today the National Republican Congressional Committee elevated Keith's campaign to Young Gun status, top tier in its Young Guns program to elect Republican challenger candidates and take back Congress.  Young Gun designation puts my campaign among elite Republican challengers nationally and this is because we have a winning message and, thanks to your support, the resources and grassroots organization necessary to retire big spending liberal Gerry Connolly in November.

After voting with Speaker Pelosi 97% of the time, including for the failed $800 billion stimulus, the mismanaged $1.4 trillion big government healthcare takeover, $600 billion in new taxes, as well as failing spectacularly to address our economy and the concerns of Northern Virginia families, Gerry Connolly knows he is in serious trouble.  There seems to be no limit to Connolly’s lies and distortions as he desperately tries to shift attention from his failed, big spending record—and it's only June!  Unbelievably, after voting for trillions in new spending –and with Nancy Pelosi almost 100% of the time—he is now trying to pass himself off as a “deficit hawk” and a pragmatic moderate.  By his logic, Pelosi must be a moderate too!

Connolly, Democrats Fail to Pass Budget

Jun 23, 2010

In response to news that Gerry Connolly and Democrats will fail to pass an annual budget resolution for the first time in modern history, Keith said:

“Instead of passing a budget resolution focused on cutting wasteful spending and enacting policies to spur economic growth, Gerry Connolly and the rest of the liberal career politicians are running for election year cover,” Fimian said. “Connolly and his fellow big spenders know their constituents oppose their reckless behavior, but they have every intention of continuing it so they are avoiding going on the record with a budget proposal until after Election Day.”

“The failure of Gerry Connolly and Democrats to pass a budget is just one more indication that they have no plans and no intention of controlling out of control deficits and skyrocketing debt,” Fimian said. “Their only interest is securing re-election at the expense of our nation’s future.”

Human Events Covers the 11th District

Jun 21, 2010

Human Events wrote a campaign update on our race over the weekend.

They wrote, "Fimian charges that Connolly (lifetime American Conservative Union rating: 0%) “has no experience whatsoever in creating jobs and it shows in the votes he casts. When you vote for cap and trade, Obama’s healthcare scheme, and the stimulus package and then say you favor 'card check,' you are doing things that cost jobs, not create them.”

But what Keith Fimian cares most about is undoing the policies that he says “cannot get us out of this mess” and putting on the table a fresh agenda of tax cuts, deregulation, and opportunity."
