Updates from the Fimian for Congress Campaign

Mar 08, 2010

Examiner

Virginia Congressional candidate Keith Fimian (R-11) recently made a statement regarding the attempts to revamp health care by the federal government.  Mr. Fimian directed his comments at the man who currently holds the seat he is trying to win in November.

“With the news that initial unemployment claims have surged 12 percent nationally in the past two weeks, residents of the 11th District are asking why Gerry Connolly is still more focused on ramming a trillion dollar healthcare bill through Congress by any means necessary, rather than working to enact policies to put Americans back to work and get our economy moving again,” Fimian said.

Fimian Kicks Off Campaign with Fiscally Conservative Message

Mar 03, 2010

Gainesville Times

As businessman Keith Fimian (R) kicked off his second campaign for the 11th Congressional District last Saturday in Haymarket, he checked off an imagine list of conservative positions.

Pro-second amendment? Check. Anti-card check, or what he called “forced unionization?” Check. Pro-life? Check. “Secure our borders?” Check. Tough on terror? Check.

Yet all those issues to a back seat to the economy, particularly the money going in and out of the federal government. Fimian, who first ran for the 11th Congressional district in 2008, railed against taxes, government spending and “career politicians” after receiving an introduction by Prince William Board of County Supervisors Chairman Corey Stewart (R). “You’re money’s your money,” he told the audience of more than 100 people gathered on the second floor of Giuseppe’s Italian Restaurant. “I just don’t trust politicians anymore. I think you should have more of your pay, so I took the no-tax pledge.”        Fimian focused

his message on the concept that he’s created jobs in the private sector while Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-11th) and Supervisor Pat Herrity (R-Spingfield) have not, despite any claims to the contrary. “...I know what it takes to create jobs,” said the former CEO of US Inspect. “It’s what I do. It’s what I’m good at. And I’ve created hundreds of jobs. That’s something we don’t have in government, it’s something we desperately need.”

Mar 02, 2010

The recorded one-minute messages will appear Monday through Friday on Fimian’s campaign website, www.KeithFimian.com.  They will also be posted on YouTube and archived on the website.

“This is a tool for informing voters,” Fimian said.  “It’s a way for people to very quickly find out where I stand on matters that interest them, one minute at a time.  Website visitors will also be encouraged to comment on their content.”

Fimian’s Prince William Kick Off

Feb 28, 2010

Citizen Tom

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending Keith Fimian’s Prince William Campaign Kickoff at Guiseppe’s Italian Grill in Haymarket, Virginia. Who is Keith Fimian? Well, it is my hope this man will be the 11th Congressional District’s next Congressional Representative. This post is about what happened at the Kickoff.

The notables included:

  * Supervisor Corey Stewart.
  * Sheriff Glen Hill.
  * School Board Member Milt Johns.
  * PWCRC Chairman Lyle Beefelt.
  * Bob FitzSimmonds (Note that Bob expects to run once again for the State Senate seat currently held be Chuck Colgan.)

Fimian spoke about his reasons for running.

  * He wants his children to have the same opportunities he had. Americans, not America’s government, make America a great place. Instead of helping America, our government is now spending our grandchildren’s future.  Fimian spoke of speaking to some of the senior citizens at Heritage Hunt. These people, proud of the legacy they had left subsequent generations, now see that legacy being squandered. Fimian wants to get our country back to its tradition of leaving a better America for the next generation.
  * The people we have sent to Washington D.C. to govern us need to be replaced. These people are wreaking our economy, and they do not know how to fix the problems they created.

Keith Fimian Welcomes Pat Herrity to Republican Primary

Jan 13, 2010

Fairfax, VA—Today Keith Fimian, Republican candidate for Congress (VA-11) issued the following statement on Pat Herrity’s announcement that he would run for Congress.

“I welcome Pat Herrity to the race for Congress. His opportunistic ambition to run for Congress is another sign that Gerry Connolly is vulnerable due to his reckless tax-and-spend policies.

“Sadly Pat Herrity misreads what Virginians’ want from their leaders. They do not want a career politician more concerned with power than results. Pat Herrity lost his race for Chairman of the Fairfax Board of Supervisors because Democrat Sharon Bulova repeatedly criticized him for missing 103 votes his first year in office. Instead of staying focused on the job he was elected to do, Herrity is again abandoning his job while drawing a taxpayer salary to seek another office. This will be the third different office he has sought within four years. His ambition outruns his responsibilities.

“I am in this race to win. I know I am the best champion in 2010 for our Conservative Republican values. I am not a career politician always angling to climb the next rung on the campaign ladder. I am not a politician who says one thing and votes another. Northern Virginia is tired of that. They will not accept it from Republicans any more than they will from Democrats. Last year I warned that if we elected a career politician like Gerry Connolly, we would get more taxes and out-of-control spending. Sadly that has been the result and families suffer.

“I offer a break from politics as usual. I am not a politician and that is a problem to the insiders who cut deals and want to anoint their friends. Instead, I care passionately about our country’s future. I am absolutely committed to creating jobs, reducing taxes and defending our freedoms. I remain the only candidate in the race who holds those views and I look forward to the campaign ahead to turn our country around and stop these reckless policies the politicians keep pushing.”

Keith S. Fimian, who lost to Connolly by nearly 12 points in 2008, announced in late 2009 that he plans to take another shot at the former Fairfax County Board of Supervisors chairman.

“I am running for Congress because we need new policies to get our economy moving again,” Fimian wrote in an e-mail to supporters in November that also said he wants “common sense” solutions to energy and health care issues. “We need to stop the out-of-control spending that is crippling our nation.”

Keith Announces his Candidacy

Nov 09, 2009

Fairfax, VA —Last year I campaigned for Congress on the platform of fiscal responsibility, opposition to corruption and the need to get our economy moving. Those issues are even more critical today.

Consider how Congress has gone out-of-control on spending:

A staggering one year Federal budget of $3.6 trillion, nearly half of which ($1.7 trillion) will be financed by debt.

$787 billion stimulus law that has done nothing to slow unemployment or spur economic growth.

A cap-and-trade boondoggle that contains massive taxes that will hit Northern Virginia families.

The numbers are mind numbing.  And that doesn’t even include the trillion dollar health care bill being debated!

This Congress has blown through spending records without even reading the bills they are voting on! And the spending has not slowed the growth in unemployment. Rather, creating economic insecurity. Northern Virginia families are hurting and Congress has no answer but more spending.

I had hoped that Gerry Connolly would learn from his mistakes.  He drove Fairfax County’s budget into a $648 million ditch of red ink.  Then he moved across the Potomac and has continued being a rubber stamp for runaway wasteful spending in the trillions.

We have to say NO to the politicians and special interests who are pushing our nation into bankruptcy.  We need to encourage, not burden, small businesses so they can hire people and help our economy grow again.

Because Gerry Connolly has proven he is incapable of addressing the challenges Northern Virginia families face, I have decided to run once again for the 11th Congressional District.

The hard truth is America faces enormous challenges.  We are mortgaging our grandchildren’s future with this spending and massive debt.  It jeopardizes our jobs, economy, retirement, homes our entire way of life.

I’ve created jobs.  I’ve tackled tough budgets.  In Congress I will put the brakes on the spending, curb the special interests and focus on getting our economy moving again, so our children and grandchildren will have an America as great as the one we inherited.  I ask for your support.

Keith Fimian
